W. Ray Beasley

W. Ray Beasley, 63, of Richland, WA, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 surrounded by his loving family and friends at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.

J.C. and Lillie Mae Beasley brought home twins born on December 12, 1955, in Toppenish, WA, a daughter named Faye and a son named Ray.

Ray attended public schools in Toppenish and graduated from Toppenish High in 1975. During High School he participated in football and wrestling. Ray’s current position was Radiological Firstline Supervisor at CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Company.

One of his favorite pastimes was antiquing and continually working on his beautiful Disney Christmas Village. Also, the annual Thanksgiving trip to Portland was a perfect time for Christmas shopping for him and wife Brenda. During football season Ray would always keep tabs on his favorite team the Dallas Cowboys, but to keep peace in the household he supported the Seattle Seahawks, because a happy wife is a happy life.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Brenda; Daughter, Chelsea Smith-Beasley, Granddaughter, Arianna (Richland, WA), Sister, Annette Roach (Richland, WA); Brothers, John Beasley (Ellensburg, WA); Michael Beasley (Watford City, ND); Nephews, Henry Roach (Jenny) (Redding, CA); Great-nephews, Jordan Roach (Britney), Bryson Roach (Chico, CA); Justin Roach (Las Vegas, NV); Hendrix Roach (Redding, CA); and Niece,          Dr. Cortney Beasley (Oakland, CA).

Extended Family Children: Christina (Tracy) Richland, WA; Natasha (Sean) Kennewick, WA; Bryon (Ann) Richland, WA; 14 Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Grandchildren. Ray had a special bond with Granddaughter Caitlyn Rettig. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the medical team at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland for their excellent care; also, the management and employees of CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Company for their kindness, compassion and unconditional support for Ray and his family during this sad time. A special thank you to Ray’s good friend Dusty Butcher.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister Faye, nephew Jeffrey Allen Roach and mother-in-law Margaret Chapin-Benson.

Ray was loving, caring and kind; he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and co-workers.

Services will be Friday, July 12, 2019 at 11:00 am at The Sunset Memorial Gardens Event Center with Graveside internment to follow. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at The Sunset Memorial Gardens Event Center, 915 By-Pass Hwy, Richland, WA.

  • I had the pleasure to work with Ray during our time at WCH. Ray was one of the most pleasant, caring individuals and mentors that I have had. As a RadCon Supervisor, he was also, willing to explain and educate those of us who were not in the field. My thought and prayers to go out Ray's family and friends. • Although it had been many years since we had seen Ray around we always valued his friendship. We knew through work at Hanford. My husband Roy and Ray were the Miami Vice of WESF, a more handsome pair of friends there never was! It is heartbreaking that our friend was taken much too soon. Rest in peace sweet man. Our hearts go out to his family.

  • I moved into my house at Sell Lane in Richland 15 years ago. I had 3 yds of rock dropped off for landscaping. As I started moving the rock Ray showed up with a wheel barrel and shovel. He stayed until the last rock was placed. Ray did not live next door, but down the street and around the cornor. We became god freinds and I was taught a lesson that day that I try to live by every day. Thank you Ray. RSIP my friend.

  • I've known the Beasley family over 55 years. Ray exemplified the teachings and expectations of his parents. I will always remember him as a kind and sensitive person. He took care of those he loved. He worked constantly to provide comfort for himself and family. Ray was a very generous gift giver showing appreciation to those who extended kindness and support to him. To all the siblings and family I convey comfort as we are forced to accept Ray's soul has found its peace with his twin and loved ones who have been waiting. We have visual and mental memories of his life lived and its influence on ours. I am grateful we remained friends for all these years.

  • I had the privilege of knowing Ray for 19+ years, and work with him for three of those years. Ray had a contagious smile and laugh. When Ray wanted to talk to me, he would say "walk with me!" I would call him, 2K Cadillac Ray. Ray was the best friend that I had ever had. Ray is loved by, and will be missed by many. Welcome home Ray. Our prayers go out to his wife Brenda, and the rest of the Beasley Family. We love you Ray. More! Dusty and Patty Butcher
