Mary Jane Hendricks, age 67, of West Richland, Washington, passed away on February 14, 2017 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center.  She was born on January 20, 1950 at the very same location.

Mary graduated from Richland (Columbia) High School in 1968.  In February 1975 she met the love of her life, Jerry Hendricks and they were married on August 2, 1975.  Mary was born and raised in Richland and stayed there her entire life.  She was an avid collector of anything related to Pepsi.  She was the happiest when surrounded by family and friends playing games, traveling and attending her kids and grandkids sporting and music events.  She enjoyed going to the Oregon Coast and Cruising to Alaska, Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mexico.  Mary was always actively involved with her kids’ school activities. She was known to many other kids as their second mom.  She had an infectious smile and laugh that everyone loved.

She is survived by her husband Jerry L. Hendricks of West Richland; two children Wendi and Michael (Angela) Hendricks; four grandchildren, Chandler, Cameron, Harper and Genny; one great grandchild, Nevaeh; her brother Richard (Kathye) Kilgore; brother in law, Dennis Hendricks; six nieces, Tracy, Tonya, Hailey, Marylyn, Audrey and SaLee; and one nephew, Randy.

  • We feel so bad that we won't be at Mary's service. I happened just by chance to see the death notice in the newspaper but did not know when the service would be until I got online and realized it is in 45 minutes. Please know that Mary was very special to us. At work she was always the first one we'd visit with everyday. If you ever wanted to know what was going on in the offices, just ask Mary -- she'd give you the scoop. She loved to visit with everyone. We got a kick out of all her stories and even years later loved catching up every once in awhile with what everyone in the family was busy doing. She absolutely adored her family and we are so sorry for your loss.

  • Michael, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We remember your mom from many years ago, we can't remember many of the details because it was so long ago, but we both remember how she made us feel, loved and accepted and her smile was contagious and sweet friend that is a legacy that few can claim. God be with you.

  • My heartfelt condolences to Jerry, Michael and Wendi. Mary was one of the sweetest people I know. Always ready with a smile and a laugh. She was forever putting others first and loved her family dearly. I will miss our conversations, whether it was at the salon getting her hair done or at Hockey or the baseball game. She always took time out to chat, even if just for a minute. Her kindness was forever in the forefront. I will miss you my friend. Rest easy, and give your mom a hug for me.

  • When my now 19-year-old son was a baby, we couldnt find a sitter.. Mary stepped in on a moment's notice and babysat for us. She was that kind of person - happy to help at the last minute, no questions asked. Few people are as giving and kind as she was. She will be missed, not just by her beautiful family, but by the community at large. She was a lovely woman I was so glad to know.
