Celebration of Life

Todd Christopher Wilson

Todd Christopher Wilson, age 50, passed away on August 9 after a brief and courageous battle with bile duct cancer.

Todd was born in Lynwood, California, on August 23, 1966.  As a young boy, he spent his childhood running around the neighborhood streets of Norwalk, California, with his siblings.  In 1976, his family moved to Richland, Washington, where he graduated from Richland High School.  He loved to hunt with his father and brothers.  He was a talented pole vaulter and participated in high school track. After graduation, Todd entered the Navy and traveled the world while proudly serving his country.

In 1997, Todd’s daughter Liberty Marie was born.  He embraced fatherhood with the most unselfish and unconditional love, raising Libby on his own in her early years and being the best dad to his little girl. It was a joy to see their relationship. Todd and Libby, now a college sophomore, shared a lifelong special bond from those formative years together. He was incredibly proud of the young lady Libby has become.

A new job returned Todd to the Tri Cities in 2004.  It was here he met the love of his life.  In 2005, he and Shawndell Plum were married and welcomed their son Lyden. Over the past 13 years, Todd worked diligently to give his family an adventurous life filled with love. Together he and Shawndell traveled around the world to exotic locales. Closer to home, the family skied many a mountain in the western United States. Todd established a tradition with Lyden, taking an annual father-son ski trip to Wyoming each December. They also enjoyed many days on the grid iron as Lyden developed his talent and love for football.

Todd was a master entertainer and cook, with a twinkle in his eye and a swagger in his step. Todd welcomed all with an open door, his big smile, big hugs and big heart. He poured so much life into his last 13 years, excelling at his job in the wine industry, surrounding himself with the kindest of friends, and building traditions that his family will always cherish. Todd lived big and loved big.

Todd touched so many souls during his all too short time on earth.  We are honored to have such a wonderful man to love and remember.  Family left to cherish his memory: Wife – Shawndell Wilson, Daughter, Liberty Wilson, Son, Lyden Wilson; Mother, Jean Wilson, and his five siblings – Dan Wilson, Kathy Nitta, Jeanine Johnson, Mark Wilson and Kerrie Oliver and their spouses, as well as a large extended family.

Todd’s service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, at Einan’s in Richland, Washington.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Chaplaincy Hospice House in Kennewick.   Two accounts for the children’s continuing education have been established. • Gonna miss this guy. Always a fun, easy smile and laugh. Loved listening to the inside stories at the WA trade show, the crab mac 'n cheese at Twig and sharing lots of good wine.

  • Wow, way too soon to lose someone with such a love of life. I always enjoyed our "sales meetings", where we talked business for a couple minutes and then moved on to the important stuff, like family, our last ski trips, good food and wine..... I will miss him, but not forget him or the positive impact he had on those he knew and loved.

  • The Wilson family has been in my prayers for many months now. I work with Dan and my parents live two houses from Todd and Shawndell. Although I never met Todd, I felt like I knew him through listening to Dan talk about him at work and in such a loving, caring and respectful way. Many prayers to the family and in particular to Shawndell, Lyden and Libby. When times get tough remember the happy moments and the legacy of your dad.

  • I'll never again know a man who loved life as much as Todd. His character was an inspiration in so many ways, from his cheerful attitude to his determination to get the job done. The lessons he taught and laughs he spread will never be forgotten. Lyden, Libby and Shawndell, you truly did mean the world to him, and let everyone he knew know that. I aspire to have that much love in my heart. I hope peace comes to you all.

  • •Grief never ends…But it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith…it is the price of LOVE. A very special co-worker who will be truly missed. Praying for Todd's family and friends.

  • I take great pride and credit knowing I introduced you two and I took great pride when I stood beside you both as you said I do but I was honored when you asked me to be Lyden's Godmother. You said it best when you said you had a great run and your destination my dear friend even greater. I now have 2 very big holes in my heart. You will remain in my thoughts and prayers always and I promise you I will try in every way possible to live up to responsibility you gave me. May the arms of the angels hold you close as your journey continues.

  • I had the pleasure of working with Todd over the course of the last 11 years, we travelled together, worked together, shared stories. He was so proud of his family, shawndell, Libby and Lyden, as well as his mum and siblings. A remarkable person who has left his mark. Miss you my friend, enjoy your journey The sound over the airport PA system " last call for Todd Wilson, cabin door is closing in 30 seconds", takes on a whole new meaning, but with humor and love, Au Revoir my friend.....

  • To my beautiful friend, Shawndell. One of the happiest times I remember was you telling me you were seeing a man named Todd and he was someone very special. I had the absolute honor of being by both of you as you gave birth to Lyden, and got to cut his umbilical cord because your Todd was so distraught at all you had gone through to bring his boy into the world. Yours was a later-in-life love story, cut short but jammed packed with love, laughter, fun, family and friends. You completed each other. May your memories comfort you, Lib, Lyden and the entire Wilson family. Through this whole ordeal you all showed us what strength and grace look like. Rest in Peace, dear Todd.

  • A life well lived. A life cut way too short. A family of Wilsons left saddened to the core. From all accounts Todd had unlimited love and laughter for life, his family, his friends. He will be missed deeply. He's watching from afar and one day will be reunited with his family. My best love to his wife, Shawndell, Liberty, Lynden, his mom, Jean, siblings, and extended family. What a beautiful summary of his life enumerated in his obituary. My prayers and thoughts are with each of you.
