Larry Dean Lee

Larry Dean Lee, 88, of Burbank WA passed away on April 26, 2017 at home surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born February 2, 1929 in Colville, WA to Norman and Lillian Lee. In his early years, he worked in the logging industry. He was also a gifted mechanic, which led him to own and operate Modern Mechanics for many years in Pasco until he retired in 2000.  He was a long time member of the Pasco Lions Club and helped put on the 4th of July firework displays each year at Edgar Brown Stadium.  He was patient and kind, and a very loving husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle, and friend.  Larry was Mr. Fix-It.  He could and would help anyone in need.  He loved to create and design in his wood shop, making treasures for his family and friends, including clocks, cradles, horses, birdhouses and many other meaningful gifts.  When he was unable to tinker with his hobbies any longer, he filled his days being an awesome Papa and loving husband.   We are so thankful for those wonderful years.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 34½ years, Della Marie (Barney) Lee, and by his six daughters, Lena Wood, Burbank; Ronda Caughey (Steve), Pasco; Penny Lane (Brian), Kennewick; Elizabeth Ogren (Wayne), Bellingham; Laurie Salazar, Kennewick; and Joy Knutson (Dale), Montana; and his grandchildren Ted, Angelique, Cyndelle, McKenzie, Matthew, Heather, Melissa, Colt, Courtney, Chris, Forrest and Erin.   He is also survived by his sister, Margie Olson, Minneapolis, his special niece, Darlynda and her family (Troy, Richard, and Heather), his best friends Joe and Myown Wilson, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his older little brother, Edward Lee.

Special thanks and appreciation to St. Mary’s Home Health Team for helping take good care of Larry, especially Debbie, Michael, Rebecca, & Ann, and to Jim with Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice, for showing compassion and kindness to Larry and his family.  In lieu of any flowers and in honor of Larry, donations to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice can be made.

  • Papa....from the motorcycle ride you took me on to ask if you could marry my mom to your last breath (and beyond) I have known that I wasn't your "step" daughter, but your daughter. I learned so much from you. I learned what unconditional and unselfish love was, I learned that I could do things in this world that I would have never thought possible. You had a sense of humor that made us all smile even when smiles weren't easy to show. Thank you for loving me, loving my sister and our kids. Thank you for always being there for a hug, a kiss and sometimes even a gentle kick in the butt. Most of all...thank you for loving my mom...thank you for giving her the love she deserved and being her support system when she was having struggles. Papa....I love you and I miss you....I miss hearing you tell me "old" when I asked "How are you?"....I miss hearing you tell me "with my fingertips" when I asked "How are you feeling?"....and most of all I miss hearing you call me Leaping Leena!
